How will one woman react when faced with a dilemma and decisions to make that could impact on people's safety, including a baby? Ellen is faced with this situation in Trust Me when a young woman leaves her with her baby on a train. Ellen separated from her husband after being unable to have a child. She is on the train home when she discovers that her ex husband and his new partner are expecting a child. Already in an emotional and vulnerable state a young woman, Kathryn, sits beside her and asks Ellen to hold her baby, Mia, while she gets organised. Kathryn's phone rings and she leaves Ellen with Mia to move away to take the call but not before Ellen notices bruising on Kathryn's arm. The train pulls into a station then, to her surprise and confusion, Ellen sees Kathryn hurrying along the platform just before the train pulls out of the station. A man gets on and sits opposite Ellen and appears to have taken a photograph of Ellen and Mia and seems to be surreptitiously watching them. Ellen goes through the rucksack that Kathryn left and, along with essentials for Mia, she finds a hastily scribbled note to her asking her to take care of Mia and not to trust anyone, not even the police. When Ellen gets off the train with Mia the man who was sitting opposite to her in the train seems to be following them so she speaks to a security man who stops the man allowing Ellen to get away but where to go? Is there anyone Ellen can trust? Should she go to the authorities? How will Ellen resolve this dilemma? T.M. Logan has set the scene wonderfully well for this intriguing mystery.
