It's got to be a major fear if anyone ever asks if you want to hold the baby, what would happen if they just ran away and left you?! Well this has been made very real in this book, as a guy i don't really get any maternal instinct but is it just coincidence that the woman managed to leave the baby with someone who has had failed IVF, will that fact make it's way back into the story later on. Is the weird man in black who seemed to be following them just an innocent who happened to be going the same way or is it something more sinister?
Probably not the sort of thing i would have picked up, but the extract has definitely intrigued me more to want to find out what happens next.
