Wow! Logan has shown tremendous skill by writing a gripping first few chapters all in the same location! It’s not often that an author is able to keep the reader completely hooked with little change of scenery- but Logan has accomplished this with ease. Ellen is an interesting protagonist right from the start, and she managed to captivate the reader with one simple thing- want. We all have something that we want, but cannot have, as does Ellen. So, within the first chapter we already relate and understand her to a certain extent. Furthermore, Ellen really strikes a chord within me. She says “looking for a reason to continue beyond the unthinking imperative to keep putting one foot in front of the other.” She feels like she repeats the same day over and over, something that many of us, and myself, can relate to right now. However, I have a feeling that Ellen’s life is about to stop being so mundane, and hopefully we can all feel that sense of adventure and suspense while reading ‘Trust Me’.
