Trust Me is an unconventional tale that centres around Ellen Devlin, a childless and newly single middle-aged woman who is left holding a stranger’s baby while on a train journey home. When the train pulls into the station and the stranger hurries away down the platform, Ellen soon discovers that the baby in her arms is in danger and her own life is at risk, too.

Told from multiple perspectives, the story unfolds in a rather far-fetched and drawn out manner, with implausible characters and uninteresting scenes. While Ellen, Angela and the rest of the Clifton family evoke a certain degree of sympathy, none of the characters are particularly endearing and their motives often lack credibility. After a protracted series of inconceivable twists and turns, the mystery surrounding baby Mia comes to an abrupt and unsatisfying conclusion that lacks the punch of a true thriller.
