This book had me hooked right from the beginning, a real page-turner and action thriller but with enough depth to it to make you empathise with the characters. The action starts from the get-go when the protagonist Ellen is left holding a stranger's baby on a train and she sees that stranger rushing off along the platform. As the story unravels we get to know more about Ellen and understand her motives. I could not put this book down, I was so invested in little Mia's safety and the puzzle of everyone's role in it and following the clues left by the characters' behaviour. I did feel the story lost pace slightly in the middle but the characterisation and context was important to fit in so I understand why and as a whole it was a compelling read with a satisfactory ending. This would be a great book for a holiday read or a single sitting session because you will not want to put it down! I haven't read any others by this author but I definitely would like to now.
