I didn’t really know what to expect when I started reading this book. Lottie marries Tom after a whirlwind romance and they are based in Rome where Lottie takes a position as an archivist. Nina the murdered woman with no relatives or life story is part of the archives and Lottie wants to know why the murder was not investigated and delves into the mystery more than she normally would in her role. I had a good idea early on that Nina was a spy and I wasn’t suprised that Tom revealed himself but much later on in the story. It really did pull the heartstrings as a love story between Gabrielle or Leo as Nina called him. There was lots to unpack as to why Gabrielle was so loyal to the church and Beppo and Lottie found herself telling her own story and finding their existence was similar but not. I did enjoy this story overall and would definitely recommend it.
