I have not read anything by this author before, so I was interested to see how good this is. After reading this, I would like to read more from Elizabeth Buchan. This story made me feel like I was there because of the descriptions and although I have never been to Rome, I felt like I got to know the city over the course of this. I enjoyed the writing style and I found it quite easy to get into the narrative. I also think the cover is one of the prettiest I have come across and would happily have this on my walls at home!
It was quite political and that was quite unexpected, but it made the story more interesting for me.
The actual story could have been a little faster as I found it a little slow in places, as well as the dialogue occasionally being a little unbelievable, but other than that it was a book I enjoyed, even though this doesn't seem to be the kind of book I would normally read.
