Lottie has just married Tom, they are living in Rome and she has just commenced a new job as an archivist. Through her work she gets drawn into the life of Nina Lawrence a woman who worked at restoring Italian gardens after their destruction during the war. Nina was also an artist and painted beautiful pictures, it is one of these that really draw Lottie in to her story.
Lottie gets immersed deeper and deeper into Nina's past and can't let it go until she finds out the full story; why was no one at Nina's funeral? What happened to her? As she begins to discover the truth, the story merges with the present and becomes part of her life.
This book has chapters written in the past which are Nina's story and chapters written in the present which are Lottie's story. I enjoyed reading this.
