This was a fantastic story a five star read from me and the second book by the author Elizabeth Buchan that I have read and loved. This story is set in Rome partly in present day and partly in the 1970's. We follow two main characters, Lottie Archer who has just moved to Rome to be with her her newly wed husband and Lottie has got the job as an archivist and she comes across papers belonging to a woman called Nina Lawrence who was murdered in Rome in 1978 and the story follows Nina' s life in Rome as Lottie uncovers the papers and secrets within. I loved the duel timelines and thought the whole story was brilliantly written, I was intrigued from beginning to end and didn't want to put it down. I learnt so much about Rome during the 1970's, about the religious and political unrest, it was fascinating and the author's descriptions of Rome just made me feel that I was actually there. I can't wait to read more by this author.
