“Two women in Rome” is about an English woman named Lottie who moves to Rome to work in an archive and becomes obsessed with the murder of another woman called Nina Lawrence. We get to see both their perspectives in alternate timelines as the narrative focuses more in Lottie but there also diary entries from Nina’s perspective. The setting was absolutely beautiful and incorporated a lot of art, which was nice to see. I also loved the relationship between Nina and Gabriele, however this book is not exactly what I was expecting. There are some very political and technical aspects to the story that I was not able to fully understand, so I don’t think I was able to enjoy the book to its full potential. Also, at times the plot felt a little slow and it took a while for things to happen. Overall though, it was a decent read, with strong themes of friendship, mystery, duty, romance and art.
