If you are a fan of romance/ contemporary fiction, this is definitely for you, but alas, I am not a bit fan of it. The dialogue feels heavy and false, and so does the narration. Other than that, it like a perfectly average adult rom-com, which is a romance sub-genre I’m not to found on. No chick-lit elements here. The classicist and art historian in me was hoping for it to be more of fiction book which discussed those themes in detail, but they seem like side details. If only it was commonplace “Indiana Jones” piece of literary fiction (this is coming from someone whose only knowledge on the aforementioned film series is the fact archaeology & anthropology are fields involved). Overall, I won’t be reading further than the sneak peak, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a bad novel, just that it’s not particularly in my taste, but hey, neither is most contemporary fiction.
