I absolutely loved Elizabeth Buchan's 'The Museum of Broken Promises', which I read towards the end of 2019 and elements of the story and the idea of an unique museum of memories, have stayed with me ever since closing the final pages. As it resonated with me so much, I was delighted to read 'Two Women in Rome' and although the title and premise of the novel didn't pull me in, like 'The Museum of Broken Promises'.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read, with a thriller drive and themes of secrecy, lies, betrayal and the exploration of guilt. A story of female bravery, love and loyalty to balance the danger and intrigue that drives the plot forwards.
The backdrop of Rome is well-crafted and added to the escapism of reading a novel, particularly as our covid-impacted world makes travel very difficult.
I do recommend this book, I enjoy Buchan's writing style - so check out the blurb for more information :)
