Although I didn’t enjoy The Museum of Broken Promises, I thought I’d try reading Two Women in Rome when I came across it at the local library with an open mind. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this book either.
I acknowledge that Elizabeth Buchan has researched the subject well and is knowledgeable about Rome and the history of art but I found the plot too slow and the writing was not lively enough to keep my interest.

The best thing I can say is the cover is bright and attractive and the fly leaves are just gorgeous.
I used to enjoy reading this genre of book about post World War ll Europe (Helen MacInnes etc) but it has either been done to death or my tastes have changed and it no longer interests me.
If I was in prison or on a desert island with just this book to read, I am sure I would read it and probably enjoy it but as I have a pile to books TBR, I would rather find something a bit more thrilling and captivating to spend my time reading.
