This book was an absorbing read. The style, hopping from one time period to a second and back, took me a little to fully understand: spoiler, there is a date whenever you go back in time, and the near jigsaw like parallels between the lives of the two women sets you wondering. I found it easy to work out some plot twists, but I was wrong on some of the others, so it would be fair to say that it keeps you guessing.

The setting was excellent, from the job of the more modern story: I could see the events taking place, through to the scenery and interactions: I occasionally lost myself in the landscape or found myself observing what was happening. I also admired the knowledge of the author. A lot of research must have been required to talk about the events so knowledgeably.

While I don’t know if I would have initially picked it up, it was an enjoyable read and I am glad that I invested the time in it.
