I've not read anything by this author before, and this seems like a series, and honestly the opening shocked me!

those first 2 pages went from me thinking it's an romance novel will I enjoy it- to what the hell that's rather graphic -to what is this all about and why might someone be killed.

That's a lot to fit in the first 2 pages, and It definitely does the job of engaging a reader who has no idea what's happening.

Cue flashback, and now I'm reading what seems a more familiar thriller setting, armed stand-off,
Culminating in an escape followed by capture. A lot is happening in this first impression and it's a good read despite me being rather clueless as to what and why things were happening and who all the characters were. (but given the opening pages who knows where this is going...)

All in all I much say it seems a good read if you've read the other books, but I probably won't get it and I have only given it 2 stars because the opening was odd and jumpy and nothing of the background is explained to the reader in this first impression. If you've read the other books it probably all fits together in an good continuation of the series(or at least I certainly hope so, otherwise it's a much worse book that needs more elaboration right from page 3 onwards :D )
