I enjoyed the delicious description of Wolfie's smoked salmon shed in the opening paragraphs which sets the scene of a heartwarming engaging read with sensitive undertones of his wife's faltering health. The cover indicates the comfort of home with the rawness and painful memories of what has happened in the outside world always present. The book has both a sense of time passing and stability in the familiar which I feel will come across in the rest of the novel.
