Dementia is a horrible debilitating illness. Having watched a family member lose their self to Alzheimer's twice it is honestly one of the worst losses to experience.
The first extract of this book paints a vivid picture of Wolfie's life, his passion for food and the vibrant culture of Victoria Park. Like in A Man Called Ove, you get the sense of a man who has lived a long and detailed life and who is suffering in the current moment with managing the increasing illness his wife Mona faces. The switch to Mona's perspective was poignant and difficult to read- perfectly expressing someone who is lost in a different time inside their mind and the fear that comes with things you don't recognise.
This book will hit hard but will be so worth the read.
