This story follows a community whose lives are intertwined. Wolfie and his wife of 65 years, Mona, are preparing for dinner with their neighbours. Or, to be more accurate Wolfie is preparing, but Mona is living in the past, thinking that she is a young woman. Their neighbours are having to look for her more often as, confused, she wanders off looking for her wartime friend and the shops she knew. Wolfie refuses to accept that it’s time to get help, and his love for Mona shines through the story.
I look forward to reading more of the story which promises to create a whole world of characters. Reading the first chapter you can picture this London community, as the writing draws you in. The characters are well written, and it makes me want to find out what happens next.
