The cover is both warm and plain, giving little hint of the type of story within. Sweetly nostalgic and infused with cooking, this novel begins almost like a memoire. The scents and sounds, colours and atmosphere dominate the narrative, which is as much focussed on the past as on the present. This seems fitting for a story where a main character is very insecurely anchored to the present.
