A beautiful and intimate portrayal of everyday life

Victoria Park is a wonderfully crafted novel told from the perspective of an interconnected group of people in a community. The format has been used before, but the author manages to give each character life through their individual chapters. The characters were diverse and each of their tales captured my interest, though at times I wished their stories kept going. Reeves manages to breathe life into Victoria Park and the influence our communities have on us, even when we're situated too closely within them to see this our selves. Reeves reminds us that behind every individual we see on the street, there is a story worth telling: there are no supporting characters in life and everyone is the protagonist of their own story. The novel was beautiful, tender and intimate. The author refused to shy away from the harsh realities of the world we live in, that takes our loved ones away before we're ready. This novel reminds us of the vivacity of everyday life. I highly recommend.
