A Calm Read

This book consists of twelve chapters, moving throughout a single year and centres around twelve different people all living different lives yet having a key similarity; Victoria Park. The idea of this multiple point of view is a nice, unique factor of this novel but, when reading, it felt like a bunch of short stories put together. I found this prevented me from fully connecting to the different characters and their own stories as there wasn't enough for me to truly get to know each character individually.

Although highly unique and quite fascinating, I did struggle to initially get hooked into the plot line - it was a little slow to get in to. However, it was an overall heartwarming and calming read, with heavy focus on the detail and the description (maybe a bit too much focus on description). It was certainly an eye opener in terms of how dementia can affect different people in different ways.

Overall, Gemma Reeves' novel is worthwhile and is beautifully written, I just wish there was more!
