Victoria Park by Gemma Reeves is a lovely book.

The first chapter begins with the story of Mona and Wolfie, who have lived on Victoria Park for fifty years, and are approaching their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary. It is, however, tinged with sadness due to Mona's worsening dementia and Wolfie's determination to look after her at home as long as he possibly can.

Subsequent chapters (there are twelve in all: one for each month of the year during which the book is set) are written from the perspective of diverse characters who all live in the neighbourhood, and whose lives are interwoven with the lives of those we have met in the preceding chapters. There is a great sense of community throughout this novel, which is filled with compassion and hope.

This is a very well-written and thought-provoking novel, which I would wholeheartedly recommend.
