Victoria Park could be anywhere and this fictional account tells the lives of people who live around this park.
Nobody knows whats goes on behind closed doors and this book illustrates this so well.
This story is told through stories about everyone who lives in this area and so many themes run through it.
It highlights how so many lives cannot be conscious of the shared heartache and troubles that they have.
Theses of attacks, domestic violence, dementia, letting go and identity run so well through this book. At the end you miss the characters and feel as if they have left an impact on you.
This is truly a book that stays with you and has echoes of Alan Bennett about it but set in the south rather than the north of England.
So well written and compulsive reading. This book is a gem that is highly recommended and a wonderful debut novel from this author.
