The opening to this book is so encapsulating and almost grabs you with both hands and pulls you in to the scene. The confusing passages written about Mona are intriguingly unravelled later, keeping you interested and invested in the later story.
The senses are definitely teased throughout the passage, reminding you the joy of eating and drinking and sharing time with loved ones - very thought provoking given our current climate. The descriptions are believable as well, they definitely create a vivid and rich image of what’s being described.
To me, personally, I find this book extremely moving - the slow loss of a person to ill health is something that takes over your life. The way that the characters seem to react to this is reminiscent of reality or ‘the real world’ and how we all deal with things differently. I love the different perspectives - wonderfully written.
