This is a contemporary fiction that centres around several characters namely Wolfie and his wife for almost 65 years, Mona.

Set in Hackney, East London, Wolfie and Mona have lived on Victoria Park for over 50 years. The storyline focuses on their lives today with Mona suffering from deteriorating Alzheimer's and Wolfie struggling with his own health.

Wolfie reminisces of the past, when he first moved to Victoria Park and opened his kosher deli, which is now well known for its bagels. He recalls meeting and marrying Mona as well as when their daughter past away.

Wolfie finally retired a year ago and gave the lease of his beloved deli to his neighbour, Luka. Each morning he begins his day with a swift walk around the park. Before catering for a large gathering as he still loves to cook for others.

I like how the author took turns to focus on Wolfie and Mona, so you get a better insight to the characters. I like how you as the reader find out about their secrets and hopes. I like their normal interactions with other characters.

When I first read the title, saw the cover and read the synopsis, I thought I would like to read this book because it is a book about my local park. Having read it, I wasn't disappointed. I like how the author developed the characters of Wolfie and Mona.
