'Victoria Park' has a simple, chirpy, eye-catching cover. I tend to gravitate towards books set in London, so I would have picked this book up had I seen it in displayed in a book shop.

The book was a little slow to start, but as the story progressed I appreciated the slow build up as it illuminated the character of Wolfie. Reading about Wolfie and Mona and the life they have built together in East London is especially interesting to me. I haven't read many stories where the characters are of a Jewish background, and I found the description of the cooking, family life and family history fascinating. I have also never read a story about the decline of memory in the elderly look forward to reading more about the effect of dementia/alzheimers on an individual and their loved ones.

It is evident that the writer will entwine the story of the lives of her characters with nature writing. If the writing continues to be this strong, I think 'Victoria Park' will be a heart warming read.
