I very gratefully received this book, Victoria Park, to read and review.

Unfortunately this book was not as good as I had anticipated from the cover and the blurb. The stories of the different residents of Victoria Park read more like a combination of short stories, rather than a complete book about a group of residents.

In the short story scenario of each resident contained in the chapters, the reader only receives a snippet of their lives, and it felt like the middle of a story. There was no beginning or end, just a middle part of a couple/family’s story and so the book felt very disjointed to me. Therefore, it was difficult to totally understand the story behind the residents and I did not feel able to sympathise or empathise with any of the characters. I continued with the book, but it felt more like a chore to finish the book rather than an enjoyable and so only 2*.
