Wow!!! This book just hits you the moment you open it’s pages. The captured snapshots of life teeming in one part of London with interconnected families and friends all in one street or park. Some are incredibly emotional to read Wolfe and mona’s story being one as their dilemma of getting old and living with dementia is similar to my personal family life and yeah it got to me in the chest and made me get a bit weepy and smile at times too. I loved all the characters even the slightly grumpy ones, the deceitful ones and the ones who want more out of the life they have now. I also felt for two of the younger characters Freddy and ana who you really want them to make it and make ana’s mum overcome her prejudice and fears of Freddie’s identity. This is not just a book about people but about everyday life in a city where you are told no one knows anyone like in the country.... but actually you are wrong there are bonds, connections that do go way back. But overtime can become thin. I loved the past life of this simple little part of London and how each Park, building and people have their own stories to tell. Wonderful!!!
