I wasn't sure about the opening of this one, I didn't think it was well worded and it took a bit to get the scene fully in your mind's eye, but despite being a slow start I found myself getting interested in the story. It's about a 17 year old girl but so far it hasn't felt too much like a young adult fiction book. It really is the tip of the iceberg in terms of first impressions as so far there is only the slightest incling that there will be a magical fantasy element to come so I'm intrigued to read more.
