Waking the Witch has all the hallmarks of a superb novel. It has a cover that invites the reader to consider whether all is as it seems; is good really good or is there something more sinister hiding in plain sight. The use of Welsh folklore adds a wonderfully rich layer of magic and mystery to this tale of a child seeking their birth parent and I wonder if the author is making more than a glancing nod towards the Kate Bush song of the same name!
