Waking the Witch is a gripping, fast-paced and eerie YA fantasy and it is beautifully written. We follow thr story of a seventeen year old Ivy and her search for her biological mother, which leads her to a remote Welsh Isle. She learns some dark secrets about her and her family.
I really enjoyed this representation of sisterhood and female empowerment. Really enjoyed Ivy's character and loved how her character matured throughout the book.
I think the author has done a brilliant job with all the characters. She also describes the Arthurian Legends so well and you can picture each scenes in your mind.
Another plus point for this book is the way Tom's and Ivy's relationship blossoms.
This is a beautifully written story, suitable for middle grade readers.
