The tone is creepy and atmospheric, also very eerie. This adds more tension and definitely keeps you even more intrigued. The story is also far from predictable - there is truly no telling what will happen next and I think that works in the novel’s favour because it means you will keep reading to find out what happens next without wanting to put it down.
The ending in particular was very satisfying, but also leaves room for a sequel which I like. The world building is evolved enough to fit the story but also can leave more room for further exploration if a sequel is written.
