Dull plot, anti-climatic and heavily carried by hints of Arthurian myth

I don't like to heavily critique a book, especially one I have been fortunate to be sent a free copy of, but this was dreadful.

The whole story is slow paced and lacking in depth. The Lead protagonist is focused on finding her mother, then loses her again, she finds her heritage as a witch, and immediately accepts it and joins in the fight, and is somehow enough to turn the tides despite clearly not understanding anything?

The Character Tom appears to be there to act as a sounding board/possible love interest, as well as trying to keep a plot about witches semi-grounded in reality, but to be honest just doesn't seem like a real person( I half thought he was all in Ivy's head at one point).

The Premise is supposedly based around Welsh and Arthurian legend, but if you change the names from the names of legend, you have a odd story that rambles through chapters where not a lot happens, to a confrontation with evil which ends when the centuries-old witches suddenly realise they can win if they work together. The whole story is building to this big magical confrontation that begins and ends in less than 10 pages!

Loosely based on Arthurian legends, sure, but I feel more like the Arthurian bits were selected to try and provide more purpose and grip to the whole book, rather than this being a true mythological tale.

Possibly aimed at children rather than YA/Adult?
