Waking the Witch isn't my usual kind of story, I'm not usually into young adult books but occasionally give them a try, especially when they're on Readers First!
Ivy was placed into care as a young child and has spent her entire 17 years wondering why she wasn't wanted. She's really interested in finding out about her mother, all that was left with her was a locket and a note saying she had to go away for her own safety. Ivy is still determined to find some family and find a sense of belonging.
The story kept my attention the whole way through and drew me into Ivy's life, feeling involved in her adventures and with just enough mystery to keep things interesting. The writing is vivid and the storyline captures your imagination throughout,... I wasn't sure where exactly this sat in my favourite books but I did enjoy it. Would recommend to other young adult fans!
