Ivy was abandoned at a motorway service station and has lived with foster parents all her life. She works at a butterfly park, looking after and educating visitors. Her seedy boss’s nephew, Tom, also works there and he delights in playing practical jokes on her.
Having spent years trying everything she can think of to find her mother she finally gets a lead to a very remote Welsh island. Weird things start happening so Ivy travels to the island where it’s possible that she could find her mother accompanied by the very irritating Tom who turns out to be very supportive.
Characters from long ago interact with the present putting lives in danger.
I enjoyed this novel which was an imaginative take on legendary tales. The plot is quite fast paced and the main characters quite well resolved. I was left wanting a little more from the ending as I felt it finished a bit too abruptly.
All in all an enjoyable read.
