This book has an interesting story, a modern twist of mythical legend stories. Ivy is on a mission to find her mum and uncovers secrets from her past on the way. I liked the story, it was straight forward and easy to follow with good characters. There was mystery, thriller, relationship development and you saw Ivy grow as a character.
I feel that the target audience is slightly younger then me and therefore the story complexity is great for this younger audience. The story moves quickly and the book is short so it’s easy to get into from the start and it never got boring.
I found some of the dialogue parts a little structured but they made the story move faster so worked well for this book.
I liked the mum character a lot, you could really feel her pain and suffering and sense she had been alone for a long time- this was portrayed well in the writing.
I liked that the story wrapped up quickly and it has been left open for more to come.
Would recommend for a light read and a good story.
