I had high hopes for this and was definitely drawn in through the cover, but sadly it just fell a little too short for me. I'm guessing this is partly because it's aimed at the YA market and I'm probably not the target audience - otherwise known as a bit too old!
The witchy vibes are intriguing and there's some spooky imagery in there, with the island itself being described as quite an eerie place. For me though, there were lots of loose ends and characters introduced who didn't seem to have a purpose. There were times when I started to feel a little lost and I kind of wanted off the island myself!
I'm guessing there will be a sequel, as there was still plenty to sum up. For the YA market, if you enjoy a spooky/witchy tale - then I think this will be an enjoyable and fairly quick read. For those who are older, I think you'll probably be looking for something with a bit more depth and reason.
