This book took a while to get going. A teenage girl looking for her birth mother receives a mysterious letter telling her not to go to an island off the coast of Wales. She has also started seeing strange shadows and people around her acting strangely out of character. So what does she do?
Along for the ride is her workmate, who has been living in his car. He drives her to Wales and they go over to the island where they meet some strange characters. A woman living in a lighthouse cottage, strange birds, dark presences....
It rattled long I suppose, the second half of the book was when the action got going. The atmosphere was brooding, the red light in the lighthouse casting a strange mood over the setting.
The main characters were ok. The girl, Ivy, finds out things about herself she didn't know etc.
Good as a YA book, for the younger end even though the young characters are around 17. Just not really for me.
