I enjoyed this first impression, and found it easy to read. Chief Walk seems like a likeable, caring character with some potentially darker layers to his personality. With his childhood friend being released from jail after serving his sentence for killing a local girl, there looks to be some conflicts of interest coming up for Walk. Especially as he seems to be close to the sister of the girl that his friend murdered...
