This book was gripping from the first line. The town is full of flawed characters all fighting against the past, and it was fascinating to see the relationships in comparison to those when they were all in high school. Walk cannot seem to let go of the past and what could have been, and it is heart breaking to see him struggle with this. I loved Duchess and Robin as characters. Duchess is a child who has never experienced childhood, and I found myself rooting for her happiness throughout the book. She desperately attempts to shield Robin, and to allow him his childhood, and this shows how much she loves him. You find yourself second guessing each character, unsure of who has committed a crime, and I did not see the end coming! Overall, an emotional and moving yet thrilling read.
