I haven't read any of Chris Whitaker's books before but wow, what an amazing author. This is such a beautifully written story of how the actions of others can affect everyone around them for generations. The tale begins 30 years prior and explains what has happened since and sets the scene of what is to come. The book sets the scene by gently introducing you to the main players in the story and gives you great affection for each of them.
It takes a little while go get the story going but the character build up has already got you invested in the story. The story is one not to be rushed and when it does get going it ready does have you devouring the words on each page.
I definitely recommend this book as the story draws you into rural American life, so much so you ready so feel invested in the lives of the characters.
