This book is about how one act of revenge can start off a chain reaction which can cause dire consequences.
Star Radley's little sister Sissy is killed by a hit and run. Her childhood sweetheart, Vincent, is the culprit and goes to prison for 30 years, starting at the age of 15. Between then and now Star gives birth to two children, Duchess and Robin. When Vincent is released, Star is brutally murdered, the finger is pointed towards him and back to prison he goes. However, behind the scenes Duchess is causing chaos. Always trying to protect her little family, she inadvertently causes the beginning of the end by trying to do the right thing.
