I chose this book a few months ago for my book club. There are 12-14 of us every month and each one of us loved this book.
It's described as a Crime Thriller but this book is so much more than that. It reads like a best-selling Contemporary Fiction novel, with its plethora of well fleshed-out and believable characters.
Our protagonist, Duchess, is one of the most incredible heroines I have ever read. Her character is so well drawn, it's hard to believe I wasn't reading about somebody real. A real story. My heartstrings were tugged on more times than I can remember.
The story is so vivid - everything jumped off the page. I believe it has been picked up by a film company and this pleases me. I hope they do it justice and cast it well.
I hadn't read this author before but he is on my list of writers whose back catalogues are now a must-read.
