30 years ago Vincent was convicted of killing his girlfriends little sister. He has served his time and is released and returns home to Cape Haven. Star, his ex-girlfriend has two children, neither of whom know who their father is as their mother has issues and can be vague. They are watched over by Walk, the local chief of Police and Vincent's best friend. Star has taken up with the local club owner who is not the nicest person to her. Duchess, her 13 year old daughter looks after her little brother and protects him from as much as possible. When she takes action against a wrong done to her mother she sets off a chain of events that have ramifications not only to her, but to people she hasn't even met yet.
