What appears to be a straightforward case of a killer back in town after his release and then at the scene of a murder , the only suspect, twists and turns. The small town mentality where everyone knows everyone and what they are up to and with whom , plays out . Several times i thought i had worked out the plot and the guilty or not guilty, when off we went again with more red herrings or misplaced faith. The main character Duchess ,i thought actually came across believable and made you sympathetic towards her . I found the main policeman a weird character , torn between loyalty and duty , but the smalltown attitude went against him to a degree.
All in all , i enjoyed this book and would recommend it - enough twists to keep you guessing
