Oh my goodness, myself and all my 4 grandchildren absolutely loved this book.

From the two 5 year olds who were able to read along as the writing was large and easy to work out for early readers, to the 3 year old and 2 year old who loved the illustrations, to myself a 64 year old grandmother, there was something in the book for all of us.

We followed the story and question of "What is Black and White"? at a slow pace the first time, studying the penguin's facial expressions, loving all the antics he got up to and they all shrieked when his name was revealed as NORMAN and not the obvious Percy or Peter or Pingu! He was soon named naughty Norman for ski-ing on stilts on a skateboard while juggling and we just waited for it all to go wrong.... thank goodness for the trampoline.

You caught ALL of us out on the last page as we called out our normal response to the question as Norman, and we laughed at how silly we all were for getting it wrong. The book was read again and again and again afterwards.
