I read this book with my young son. He is probably a bit younger than the target audience for the book but because of the black and white illustration of the penguin Norman, he really enjoys looking at the book and reading it with me. I think that if he was a bit older then he would enjoy the humour of the story a lot more and I think that would be a good thing, as the book is clearly meant to be funny for small children. The illustrations are fun and the story and build up are great as well. I think the book will appeal to a range of children of different ages and it is universal. I like the fact that it is focused upon an animal which I believe is appealing to young children. I thought that the style was very good and it was easy to read, with an element of excitement as you turn the page. I am looking forward to encouraging my son to start reading the book himself in future.
