Although I enjoyed the first look, I'm afraid the interest that raised soon waned for me. I found myself really struggling to keep going with this....simply because, to be honest, I just didn't give a damn about the lead character.
The pace of the beginning of the novel dropped off too, mid way through and as such I found it hard to sustain interest....there was no sense of 'oooh I must find out what happens next....one more chapter before bed!' as I read so it felt like a chore to pick the book up and keep going.
I'm sure this is down to personal taste as I've read other glowing reviews of this...maybe I was expecting something punchier and the story didn't develop in the direction I'd hoped.
