I’ve actively avoided the previous books simply by their title alone. “Why mummy drinks” is such a cliche and not aimed at someone like myself at all. As a child of an alcoholic, glorifying drinking generally gets my back up anyway (I don’t find it tongue in cheek) but now having read an excerpt for the follow on to the follow on, I can safely say that these sort of books are so generic and bland aiming at the lowest common denominator. The sort of woman who has “live, laugh, love” and “gin o’clock” signs dotted about her house.
Everyone’s parental struggles are at times comical and yet tedious with a large dose of hair pulling. It’s not innovative and you can can quote me on that.
