From the first impression, I am not 100% sold on this book.
This books seems like the truth of motherhood, no sugar coating, the furies that mother's go through for years from bringing up babies to stroppy teenagers. Ellen speaks the truth of what most mother's probably say out loud or to themselves on a daily basis. There is some great humour and bits that made me laugh out loud. As a 25 year old, I am not far off parenthood one day, and I am not far away from my teenage years where I can definitely see how my mother felt for years bringing up my sister and I.
But for me, it constantly feels like the book is going off on a tangent as Ellen's thoughts go elsewhere. I feel like I just want a break from all the ranting and a simple story line. It makes the book feel overwhelming.
Although, I realise the writing style of this book is that it's a mother's rant of bringing up children.
The storyline may expand as we continue into the book, but from the first 30 odd pages I am just feeling slightly overwhelmed. I would definitely give this series as try though as I have seen plenty of good reviews.
